Good evening~! After a long and busy day I am finally writing my blog. But first, a quick summary on Thursday. Thursday started out again with a long morning Bible session on the book of Daniel chapters two and seven, where we discussed how the Bible already predicted the rise and fall of the Babylonian, Medo-Persian, Greco-Macedonian, and Roman empires. We also discussed why the statue described by Daniel starts with gold and degrades into a mixture of iron and clay. Two possible explanations that we concurred on were that even though the empires rise in strength they actually decrease in overall wealth or knowledge about God. At the end of this four hour long discussion I went inside for an interview and lunch.
The interview was composed of two questions: was high school or college helpful to your faith, why and why not? and how did you survive in that environment. After finishing the interview I went to go work on my presentation on the book of Jonah for next Thursday and conducted two more interviews in the afternoon.
Forward to Friday: Another morning session of Bible class on the book of Daniel chapters eight and nine. Today I learned that Daniel specifically named the Macedonian empire and even prophesied its division into four different empires. We also calculated the dates that are mentioned in Daniel chapter nine and whether they match up with history. Our calculations showed that they were a bit off, but multiple sources claimed that this was all due to the difference in calendars and leap years. After this debate I went in search of food.
Having acquired food I spent time reading a book for my project, A Case for Christ. After finishing two chapters I was driven to a local middle school where I spent an hour working as the teacher's assistant. Then after having wiped the last counter and cleared the last table my day was finally over.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
# 1. Post a blog 3 times a week (M, W & F) of at least 200 words. In your blogs you could:
-describe something you learned
-explain something that surprised you
-give an update about stuff you're working on
-explain how you solved a problem
-tell a cool story
Also include images, sounds or video from your project.
# 2. Respond thoughtfully to another blogger's posts on this site. Post 1 of these response-blogs per week (200 or more words each).
Each of you is expected to contribute to this blog--even if you're working with another student or with a group.
I'm really looking forward to following your project via your postings! Have fun!
