WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

# 1. Post a blog 3 times a week (M, W & F) of at least 200 words. In your blogs you could:
-describe something you learned
-explain something that surprised you
-give an update about stuff you're working on
-explain how you solved a problem
-tell a cool story

Also include images, sounds or video from your project.

# 2. Respond thoughtfully to another blogger's posts on this site. Post 1 of these response-blogs per week (200 or more words each).

Each of you is expected to contribute to this blog--even if you're working with another student or with a group.

I'm really looking forward to following your project via your postings! Have fun!

STACK Intro Day

My first day on Hawken Project went exactly as expected. I arrived to the RTA just as it was leaving and only my world-class sprinting ability saved me from the embarrassment of first-day tardiness. Then I lost my bearings wandering the unfamiliar streets of downtown Cleveland, a city that really isn't too tricky to navigate in the first place. And finally, for the remainder of the day I researched information about drug usage in Cleveland. I guess it didn't turn out exactly how I expected, but hey, the first day is all about getting some of the unsatisfactory minutiae out of the way so that the remaining 20 days can follow the path of least resistance.

Within the relatively modern offices at STACK, I was stationed at a table/desk hybrid that offered slightly too much solitude for a green journalist like myself. I ended up spending the majority of the day researching the heroin outbreak in Cuyahoga County due to Brian Sabin's request that I pursue a story relating to PEDs and the mandatory, random drug testing at St. Ignatius, St. Eds, and Gilmour Academy. Brian, my sponsor and an executive editor at STACK, thought that this story would be the most interesting out of my 4 pitches from before projects began. However, I now face the difficult task of stitching a heroin epidemic, drug testing in schools, and a fitness connection into one petite article. It should be an interesting couple of days.

For the remainder of this week, I plan on offering aid to the different employees at STACK so that I can learn about various jobs at the magazine.
