WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

# 1. Post a blog 3 times a week (M, W & F) of at least 200 words. In your blogs you could:
-describe something you learned
-explain something that surprised you
-give an update about stuff you're working on
-explain how you solved a problem
-tell a cool story

Also include images, sounds or video from your project.

# 2. Respond thoughtfully to another blogger's posts on this site. Post 1 of these response-blogs per week (200 or more words each).

Each of you is expected to contribute to this blog--even if you're working with another student or with a group.

I'm really looking forward to following your project via your postings! Have fun!

Internship Day 2

Today was actually my second day working as an intern at the Church in Cleveland. For those who do not know, the Church in Cleveland is an non denominational church on Warren Road on the west side of Cleveland. My day started bright and early at 8 a.m. with a grueling four hour long Bible Study class on the book of Zechariah chapters three and four. There were nine of us seated around the perimeter of a square formed out of four tables. Of the nine, Rex Beck, a full time Christian minster at the Church in Cleveland, was the leader and took on the lead role of guiding discussions. After exhausting all possible  symbolisms to be found in the short chapters, a total of twenty-four verses, we had a break for lunch.

During lunch I drove out to meet one of my friends for an interview on his Christian faith and how school affected his belief on God. I learned that high school was actually detrimental to his Christian faith, but college was beneficial. This hour long interview ended with munching on tacos and burritos after a quick run to Taco Bell.

Upon returning to the church I helped prepare fliers to be distributed throughout the neighborhood, read the book, A Case for Christ, and prepared for my presentation on the book of Jonah next week. Then around 4:30 p.m. another full timer, Ben Shumway, took me to a dinner session at a church in Broadview Heights with food and singing. Then after coming back home at 9 p.m. my day has finally ended.

  2. I'm surprised to hear that this is what you're doing for your senior project as I never knew you to be interested in anything religions! However, I'm glad to hear it's going well and you're learning a lot. I would love to hear more about your interview about your friend's faith, maybe read some transcribed dialogue or something along those lines. I don't know if I could manage to survive any sort of Bible Study class let alone one that lasted four hours, so good on you pal! I'd love to be able to hear your thoughts on how the discussions went as well as what sort of meaning the members pulled out of their study. Since Cleminshaw's Humanities class I haven't had any sort of exposure to the bible so I would love to hear more about specifics of their study. The Taco Bell trip sounds like the most enlightening thing of all, however. I would really love to know how it further enhanced your understanding, it sounds very interesting. Overall I'm really impressed at your fortitude and applaud you. I am excited to see how this progresses. Keep it up!
