WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

# 1. Post a blog 3 times a week (M, W & F) of at least 200 words. In your blogs you could:
-describe something you learned
-explain something that surprised you
-give an update about stuff you're working on
-explain how you solved a problem
-tell a cool story

Also include images, sounds or video from your project.

# 2. Respond thoughtfully to another blogger's posts on this site. Post 1 of these response-blogs per week (200 or more words each).

Each of you is expected to contribute to this blog--even if you're working with another student or with a group.

I'm really looking forward to following your project via your postings! Have fun!

Jennifer

Today I met a girl named Jennifer. Jennifer is an orphan with Down syndrome at Hogar Padre Juan Andres Trebolte.
Last October friends of the Wall family built Jennifer a bench swing. Jennifer would swing for hours everyday. Due to safety issues the girls moved from the building where the swing was built to a newer building in a more secure part of their campus. The only problem was that Jennifer could no longer swing. She needed supervision to go all the way to the swing and with taking care of 28 girls the nuns weren't able to do that for her. They had to add new locks to the doors because at night Jennifer would sneak out at night and swing. So they asked the walls a few months ago if they would be able to move the swing into a courtyard by the new building for Jennifer. Today we were able to do that.
Jennifer and her friends were thrilled! Their dog, Ghosty seemed pretty happy too.
By the way, the girl on the left is Susan. I just thought that I would mention her to illustrate the hope and future orphans still have. She is 7 years old and is reading and writing at a 9 year old level(which is almost unheard of). She is the sweetest, most outgoing young girl, that only wanted to take pictures with Ghosty. She was the first child at the school/orphanage to come up to me and start talking to me. All of the girls gave us hugs goodbye and Susan gave me a kiss on the cheek and said "¡hasta luego!"
